The Share Energy customer care register

While every customer is important to Share Energy, we operate a Customer care register for older customers, or those customers with a disability or long term illness. Just call us and let us know.

Share Energy can offer our customers who are blind or visually impaired a number of options for receiving their bills:

• Braille

• Large Print

• Talking Bill

o    Low Rate: Mon - Fri Midnight to 8am; Sat/Sun 7pm to 8am 
o    Normal Rate: Mon - Fri 8am to 4pm; Sat/Sun 8am to 7pm 
o    Peak rate: Mon-Fri – 4pm to 7pm

The times stated above are all GMT.

Give us a call on 0808 304 9870 and we’ll be happy to add another name to your account. The person you are adding will need to be present with you to confirm their details.

Our team are available Mon – Fri 0800 – 1900.  Calls are recorded for quality assurance purposes.

Alternatively, you can do this from your Share Energy App or log in to our customer portal.

We know that it can be a difficult time when someone close to you has passed away and we'll do our best to make closing or transferring their account as simple as possible.

Closing or transferring an account
If you’re a relative or solicitor, please call us on 0XXX XXXX XXXX. One of our team members will guide you through the process. We'll need you to have the following information on hand:-

• Your name, address and contact details 

• Name and address of the Power NI account holder

• Recent meter reading

• Date the account holder died

A copy of the death certificate is not typically needed to close an account.

What happens next?
The account will be closed immediately.  

We’ll ensure no further correspondence is sent to the account holder. However, some letters and bills may already be in the system, please accept our apologies if you receive any.

If there is a credit due, we may need written confirmation of where and to whom the credit should be sent, depending on the amount due and the recipient.

 

We need to collect some personal data through several channels including from you, third parties, other energy suppliers, the network provider and credit reference agencies to provide our energy products, services and management.

We obtain this personal data during the registration process, marketing or through our on-going management of your account. We cannot provide you with energy products or services which best suit your requirements unless we have the necessary information.

Personal data includes: name, address, contact details, email address, date of birth, property details, bank details, credit and debit information, records of payments and any arrears, marketing preferences, property categorisation, telephone recordings, CCTV recordings from our offices, website usage (on www.share-energy.com), IP address, energy usage, identity verification questions (such as mother’s maiden name), contact notes. 

In certain circumstances and as part of our regulatory requirements we may collect special categories of personal data for the customer care register including any disabilities or special needs information necessary to support the provision of service to the customer.

Energy theft is tampering with a meter or its connections. This prevents the meter from accurately recording the amount of electricity consumed.

It places households and communities at risk and can cause damage to property, injury and even risk to lives.

Energy theft is a crime and can result in prosecution, leading to a criminal record for the offender.

If you suspect energy theft, please report it using one of the following options:

• call the UKRPA on 028 9575 7206 (local rates apply),
• fill in the form on the UKRPA website,
• call NIE Networks on 03457 643 643.
